Two people in SUV crash at gas station while trying to flee gunfire on Norwood Avenue

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — UPDATE 11:12 p.m.

According to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, two adults were traveling on Crestwood near Norwood Avenue when they encountered gunfire from a known individual.

The victims fled to the Safari Discount Beverage at 6015 Norwood Avenue.

The vehicle struck an adult man and his dog upon entering the parking lot. The dog died from the crash.

Both victims were transported to the hospital, each with non-life-threatening gunshot wounds.

There is one suspect involved and the Violent Crime Scene Unit is responding.

Officers say there is no threat to the public.

There is a police presence at the Safari Discount Beverage at 6015 Norwood Avenue.

The area is taped off with an SUV that appears to have crashed at the gas station.

The vehicle has blood on the passenger side and cracked windows. There also appears to be a bullet hole in the vehicle.

Several witnesses told Action News Jax Christy Turner that a dog was hit and killed by the vehicle.

At least one person was hurt.

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office will hold a briefing at 11:05 p.m. with details on this incident.
