Jacksonville Beach police searching for attempted sexual battery suspects

JACKSONVILLE BEACH, Fla. — UPDATE 12/28/2019: Police identified the suspect as Darius Antonio Dornes, 25. According to the Jacksonville Beach Police Department, he turned himself in on Friday, Dec. 27 at 10:21 p.m. He is now in custody at the Duval County Jail.

Jacksonville Beach police are trying to identify two men in an attempted sexual battery.

The police department released video Wednesday that shows two men approach three women in front of City Hall Sunday around 2 a.m.

The video shows two male bystanders running down the sidewalk to help the females, causing the two suspects to turn around and quickly walk away.

Police said the two men who walked away are suspects in a violent attempted sexual battery that happened shortly before the footage was captured.

One attack victim shared the following statement with Action News Jax:

“On Saturday, I stepped outside of a bar in Jacksonville Beach looking for a friend. As soon as I walked outside, a man came running at me at a very fast pace. He punched me in the face at least five times. I lost count as he continued to beat me, breaking my nose, giving me a black eye and cutting my face with his fists. He then pulled down my pants and told me if I was quiet, it would be quick. I screamed, and thankfully, he ran away, but sadly, he and a friend went after some other women in the area. I am sharing what happened to me to protect other women so they do not have to survive a horrific attack like I did.”

Officers are asking anyone with information about their identities to call 904-270-1661 or email tipline@jaxbchfl.net.
