JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — UPDATE 9:10 p.m.:

A boy is dead after being struck by a car while riding an electric scooter in a Dinsmore neighborhood Tuesday evening, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.

He was crossing Rolling River Boulevard from Rolling Stream Drive when he was hit by a Chevy Camaro.

JSO said it appears the boy did not check for on-coming traffic before attempting to cross the street. Plus, there is not a crosswalk in the area where he was struck.

JSO said they do not believe the driver of the Camaro was speeding and the driver and passenger are being cooperative with police.

According to JSO, this is the 191st traffic fatality this year, and the 48th pedestrian struck.
