‘He killed her for nothing:’ Family and friends of woman shot and killed at Normandy Park speaks out

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Tiffany Yannielln, a close friend of the victim said she often overheard Taliyah Williams arguing with Lewis by phone. The two worked together at a local Starbucks.

“I was telling her to leave him for so long, I should have done something,” Yannielln said.

She said the two were dating for about a year, and she was planning to leave the suspect.

“He had nothing going for him, he didn’t have a car no job. That was all he had so he wasn’t gonna let her leave.” Yannielln said.

Update -11/24/2020: Deiondre Lewis, 22, has been arrested and charged with murder following the fatal shooting of a woman at Normandy Park Monday morning, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.

Family members identified the shooting victim to Action News Jax as 21-year-old Taliyah Williams.

Lewis also faces charges for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and carrying a concealed firearm.

Update - 11/23/2020 10:37 p.m.: The family of a young woman shot & killed in a westside park this morning is speaking out and calling for justice.

Family tells Action News Jax 21-year-old Taliyah Williams was the woman who was killed.

Her uncle, Teddric Williams, tells Action News Jax they’re heartbroken and angry.

The family tells us they know who shot and killed Taliyah Williams.

As of right now, there is a person of interest in custody, but JSO has not named any suspects.

Williams says, “He killed her for nothing and now we have to sit and we have to watch her lower into the ground.”

ORIGINAL STORY 11/23/2020: Police are investigating a shooting at a Jacksonville park that left a woman dead Monday.

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said the shooting happened just after 10 a.m. at the Normandy Park on Lindsey Road on the city’s Westside.

JSO said they have a person of interest in custody. Officers also found a gun.

Police said the woman is in her 20s.
