JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A woman is in serious condition following a crash just after midnight, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.
Police say the crash happened on Beach Boulevard at Peach Drive, near Southside Boulevard.
Authorities say a Ford Focus was traveling west on Beach Boulevard when it hit a Volvo that was traveling south.
A man driving the Ford was taken to a hospital with minor injuries.
The woman that police say was driving the Volvo was thrown from the car.
JSO said she was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Both drivers were not wearing their seatbelts, and according to police, speed could have been a factor in the crash.
Lanes were closed on Beach Boulevard near Southside Boulevard but have since reopened.
Police will contact nearby businesses to see if surveillance cameras may have captured the crash.
The investigation is ongoing.
