Officer arrested for accessing criminal database and sharing details with inmate, JSO says

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office announced Wednesday the arrest of one of its own, Bionca Williams.

Williams was arrested and charged with accessing a computer/electronic device without authority, a third-degree felony.

JSO said Williams was accessing information in an active investigation and sharing the information with an inmate.

The sheriff’s office also said Williams checked the inmate out of the correctional facility under the guise of an investigation but that was not the case.

The inmate was out of the correctional facility for two hours or less, according to JSO.

JSO said the inmate was in jail for failure to appear in court on another charge.

Williams had been an officer with JSO for seven and a half years, and according to JSO, she is not resigning. JSO is now working to terminate Williams.

This is the sixth arrest for JSO in 2021, with four officers, one employee, and one civilian.
