JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — UPDATE 5/12/2021 9:10 P.M.:
When JSO was asked about Navarro’s girlfriend, who was inside the house at the time of the shooting, they said:
“Follow-up investigation of the incident has revealed the female that was inside the house when officers arrived was able to leave the residence on her own accord. As such, the suspect has not been charged additionally related to kidnapping or false imprisonment at this time.”
Navarro is charged with attempted murder of law enforcement, and will not be charged with kidnapping or false imprisonment.
ORIGINAL STORY:
The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office released a photo of Navarro’s gun that was used to shoot several rounds at officers after being asked to come out six times.
“I’m thinking ‘okay is this real’ or what?” Said one neighbor.
Security video from her home was given to Action News Jax and shows the moment police officers went through her driveway.
She didn’t want her name shared due to concerns for her safety, but told Action News Jax reporter Ben Ryan the shots led to four bullet holes in her backyard fence.

“We heard the big boom, sounded like bazookas,” she said. “Might have been tear gas, I don’t know but after that I heard four shots.”
The redacted police report says Navarro attempted to escape out of a window before being shot and arrested by police.
A look through JSO’s inmate search says he’s facing a charge of attempted murder of law enforcement, false imprisonment, kidnapping with a firearm and armed robbery.
While no officers were hurt, Action News Jax law and safety expert Dale Caron says it will still be attempted murder.
“The aggravation of these penalties and charges will result in life in prison, there’s no question about that,” Carson said.

Chief Waters said officers took cover after being shot at and learned Navarro had a hostage inside.
The arrest report says Navarro and his girlfriend were inside the home on Morgana Road. When Action News Jax asked about his girlfriend’s involvement, Chief Waters said she had no involvement in the incident that brought them there.
When Action News Jax asked if Navarro was involved in any other crimes around this area, the JSO said they were not aware of any that could be linked to him.
