JSO: Police find body in ‘severe state of decomposition’ near Walmart on Jacksonville’s Southside

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — UPDATED STORY: Southside residents shocked by discovery of body near local Walmart

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office is investigating an undetermined death near the Walmart at 8808 Beach Blvd.

Police responded to a report of a deceased body in the surrounding woods, and upon arrival they found the deceased individual around 3:20 p.m. Saturday.

Police say another individual was walking in the wooded area when they discovered the body and called the police.

The body was in a severe state of decomposition, according to police.

The body has not been identified, and there is no sign of foul play. Police are working with the medical examiner to determine the cause of death.
