JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A man is facing several charges, including felony murder, following an incident in March.
The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said they responded to a shooting in the area of 1800 Atlantic Boulevard on March 3 and found Austin Douglas, 27, dead at the scene.
During an investigation, detectives uncovered that Douglas and two other suspects were involved in an aggravated battery and attempted armed robbery on March 2 on Woodbridge Court.
“In the course of committing those offenses, Douglas was shot and killed as a result,” JSO said.
Police said one of the suspects who was with Douglas when he was shot was identified as Simmie Lee Lott, 42.
Months later on Aug. 22, JSO said the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task force found Lott in Valdosta, Georgia and arrested him.
On Wednesday, he was brought to Jacksonville and now faces felony and attempted murder charges, along with a charge of attempted home invasion robbery, and a charge for possessing a firearm as a convicted felon.
