JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — UPDATE 5:48 a.m.- FDOT reported that the scene is clear, and all lanes have reopened.
ORIGINAL STORY:
Florida Highway Patrol and Florida Department of Transportation are cleaning up after a hit-and-run caused a semi-truck to spill fuel on the road.
According to FHP, troopers were dispatched to the I-10 south off-ramp onto Lane Avenue South at 3:13 a.m. and closed down the off-ramp and the southbound lanes of Lane Avenue.
An FDOT Road Ranger at the scene told Action News Jax that a pickup truck hit the semi-truck, causing fuel to spill on the road. The pickup truck driver got out of the car and left the scene on foot.
Both trucks have been towed from the scene and hazmat crews are currently working to clean up the fuel. At this time, the I-10 off-ramp and the southbound lanes of Lane Avenue are still closed. Drivers on I-10 are being rerouted westbound. One northbound lane is still open on Lane Avenue.
