First named storm Ana transitions into Tropical Storm

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — UPDATE 5/23: Ana is now a Tropical Storm. Ana moves northeast into cooler waters and dissipates by Tuesday, May 25.

The first named storm of the year has formed over the Atlantic Ocean. Subtropical storm Ana formed 200 miles northeast of Bermuda.

The storm is not expected to reach land.

  • Fourth-year in a row with a pre-season storm forming in May
