Two people arrested in connection to 4-year-old’s death, Jacksonville police say

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A man and a woman are in custody in connection to the death of 4-year-old James Reese Jr., according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.

Action News Jax reported in April that James’s death was being investigated as a murder.

Christopher Nastasi, the boy’s uncle, told Action News Jax James was brought to Wolfson Children’s Hospital on life support, later dying on April 21.

JSO said because of the severity of the boy’s injuries and his passing, the homicide unit began an investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death.

Michelle Sipko, 38, and Alexander Pino, 30, were identified as persons of interest in James’ death and police said arrest warrants were obtained.

Officers said the pair turned themselves in on Thursday night.

Pino faces second-degree murder and aggravated child abuse charges, while Sipko faces manslaughter and child neglect charges.

Action News Jax’s Ben Ryan will have the very latest on the case starting at 4 p.m. on FOX30.
