JACKSONVILLE, Fla — Emo Night Karaoke is coming back to the Bold City. The karaoke event will be at Jack Rabbits on October 3.
“Emo Night Karaoke is basically a live-band karaoke kind of thing,” said guitarist and emcee Chris Pennings. “[W]e have an iPad there where you can sign up to sing a song, and then we throw it into the lottery and pick as many songs as we possibly can in the allotted time we have, which is usually at least three hours, and we’ll go one after another and just plow through them and play as many songs as we can.”
Some of the songs featured on the playlist include “I’m Not Okay (I Promise)” by My Chemical Romance, “Misery Business” by Paramore, “I Write Sins Not Tragedies” by Panic! At the Disco, “King for a Day” by Pierce the Veil, and “A Decade Under the Influence” by Taking Back Sunday. Besides playing popular emo songs, Pennings said Emo Night Karaoke is adding heavier songs, like “Toxicity” by System of a Down and “Break Stuff” by Limp Bizkit.
