Family, community continue their search for missing Clay County father Keith Pereau

Friends and family members tell Action News Jax they won’t stop searching for a missing Clay County father until they find him.

Keith Pereau has now been missing for four days. His family says he was last seen on July 15, in Fleming Island before he took his boat for a ride.

Pereau is about 5 feet 10 inches tall, and weighs 205 pounds, with blue eyes and grey hair. Anyone with information about his disappearance is urged to call the Clay County Sheriff’s Office at 904-264-6512.

Action News Jax Courtney Cole has been following the search for two days and spent much of Thursday in Clay County.

Keith Pereau’s sons, Frank and Kirk Pereau, have been spearheading search efforts and using social media to help organize family and friends who want to help find him.

On Thursday morning, family members say they searched the St. Johns River, Black Creek and down to NAS Jax.

They also have crews searching in Ortega and Arlington.

They made a stop at Whitey’s Fish Camp in Fleming Island Thursday afternoon as well. That’s where Cole met up with Pereau’s family.

They told Cole they specifically stopped at the camp to spread the word about their father to fishermen, who would be out on the water for a bass tournament.

Frank Pereau says his father was last seen on Sunday, before he took a ride on his boat.
"I was supposed to be out on the boat with him,” Frank Pereau told Action News Jax.
Pereau said his father got onto the boat between 5 and 5:30 p.m. Sunday and was probably out there for an hour to an hour and a half.
Kirk Pereau says there were only friends with him during the boat ride.
“None of his immediate family was on the boat, no one that was kin to him was on the boat,” said Kirk Pereau.
There are conflicting reports from family members and neighbors about whether Pereau made it to shore safely after his ride.
But his son Frank says he received a phone call from him the night he disappeared.
“I received a phone call from him at 1:40 a.m. ... a missed call.”
A call Frank says he woke up to on Monday before he realized his father was missing.
Over the last two days, family and friends have been searching the Fleming Island area on foot and searching nearby waterways by boat.
“We've been getting a lot of phone calls, we've got the community behind us and we're very thankful for everyone that's out there looking and doing what they can to help us out,” said Frank Pereau.
The Pereau family tells us strangers have offered to use their own drones and even a plane to search for Keith Pereau.
