JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office is investigating a domestic event related to a shooting early Thursday morning that left a man dead.
The victim’s mother tells Action News Jax the man was shot and killed by his father in what police called a domestic incident that happened both inside, and outside, of a home on 4600 Wood Ave.

Investigators tell us the man was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Homicide detectives then responded to the scene.
Police said in the overnight briefing they’d been told the incident involved a father and son. They went on to say they were working to confirm that.
Action News Jax Reporter Ryan Nelson reached out to JSO Thursday afternoon asking if the father did indeed pull the trigger.

“Besides what was released at the scene, no further details have been released,” said JSO spokeswoman Melissa Bujeda. “If new information becomes releasable it will be sent to everyone.”
Neighbors say they’re having a hard time processing how this could happen so close to home.
“Everybody kind of looks out for each other around here,” said a neighbor who asked not to be identified. “It’s quiet.”
