JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A pedestrian is dead after being hit by a Chevy Impala early Tuesday morning in Jacksonville, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Brian Bennett, 36, of Jacksonville, was hit at approximately 12:10 a.m. on Normandy Boulevard, just west of Doloma Street, according to FHP.

Troopers say Bennett was crossing Normandy Boulevard, outside of a marked crosswalk and "for an unknown reason," walked into the path of the Impala, receiving fatal injuries.
FHP said the driver was not injured and is cooperating with the investigation.
