FHP: Young man dies after being ejected from motorcycle in St. Johns County

ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. — Florida Highway Patrol reported a deadly motorcycle crash Wednesday morning on State Road 16 in St. Johns County.

Preliminary investigation revealed that at approximately 2:10 a.m., a 21-year-old man from St. Augustine was traveling westbound in the inside lane of SR 16 near Jardine Avenue.

The cyclist failed to negotiate a turn and travel into the eastbound lanes onto the shoulder. It was there he struck a traffic sign and was ejected onto the shoulder.

The cyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.
