First Alert Weather Day on Saturday, improving weather Sunday

Here’s what the First Alert Weather Team said you can expect for the forecast:

  • Post-Tropical Cyclone Isaias continues to weaken as it lifts northward through Central Alabama
  • RIGHT NOW: It is hot and humid across the area with tropical air in place and the outer rainbands of Isaias tracking through the Big Bend and stretching up through our inland communities.
  • Scattered thunderstorms with lightning, heavy rain and gusty winds will continue across our area through the remainder of the evening Saturday.
  • The highest tornado threat is north of our viewing area in Southeast Georgia.
  • Many neighborhoods have seen at least 12″ of rain so far this month and the ground is completely saturated. Any additional rainfall will quickly cause flooding.
  • Scattered showers and storms will continue overnight with isolated showers/storms early Sunday morning before much drier air finally filters into the region.
  • Next week will bring a welcome break from this wet weather! It will be MUCH less humid, dry and sunny to start out the week.
  • Humidity will start to increase towards the end of the week.
