WEST PALM BEACH, FL. - Father of former Florida State University football star Travis Rudolph, was killed over the weekend during an accidental shooting, according to the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office.
The incident occurred Saturday morning when 55-year-old Darryl Rudolph was repairing something in a back storage room of Sugar Daddy's Adult Cabaret when an employee in another room removed a firearm from a shelf the Sheriff's Office said.
The weapon discharged, firing a bullet that struck Rudolph in the neck/back area. He was rushed to St. Mary's Medical Center, where he died from his injuries.
The shooting, which the Sheriff's Office is calling accidental, is still under investigation.
Travis Rudolph is expected to participate in the 2017 NFL Draft, forgoing finishing his education and senior season as wide receiver for the Florida State University football team. He's stated that he's happy with his decision to enter the draft early, and had private workouts already planned in April with the New England Patriots and the Miami Dolphins.
The former FSU football player also received attention off the field after a visit to a Tallahassee middle school, joining a student with autism who was eating lunch by himself.
