FSCJ Artist Series warns of possible fake tickets to Les Misérables in Jacksonville

The FSCJ Artist Series is warning local theater lovers about websites that could be selling fake tickets.

One Facebook page was taken down on Monday after advertising tickets for the production -- tickets that aren’t really on sale yet.

Many theater lovers in Jacksonville have “Dreamed a Dream” of seeing Les Misérables at the Times Union Center in January 2019.

But if you’re not buying your tickets from the FSCJ Artist Series directly, you may find out you’re not really buying tickets at all, “At the End of the Day.”

“It’s really buyer beware,” said FSCJ Artist Series Executive Director Milt Russos.

The Facebook page that was taken down Monday looked similar to the real FSCJ Artist Series Facebook event.

There were a few red flags: Les Misérables was missing an accent above the ‘e.’ The site was also directing buyers to a third-party website.

One post on the Facebook page said, “Bad news everyone! Tickets are slipping away! Don’t miss your chance!”

Russos said the public can’t even buy tickets for the production right now, unless they subscribe to the whole season.

“The average person is probably not going to know that. It looks very, very, you know, real,” said Russos.

It’s a problem Russos said he has seen before.

He said, at best, you’re overpaying for tickets; at worst, you’re paying for tickets that don’t exist.

“And you have people in tears,” said Russos. “But there’s nothing at all that we can do. And that’s the danger of going to websites other than the official sites.”

Don’t go “One Day More” questioning if you’re on the right website.

Starting this fall, you'll be able to buy the real thing here.
