BRUNSWICK, Ga. — UPDATE 9/20/2020 12:19 P.M.
According to GBI, Brunswick Police Officer was patrolling downtown Brunswick when he observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed.
While the officers were looking for the vehicle involved, officers encountered a man on foot who approached them.
A foot chase ensued, at which time the individual fired numerous shots in the direction of another officer.
That officer, Lt. Donald Babbin, returned fire, striking Charles Eric Moses, Jr., 33, of Brunswick.
Moses was transported to Southeast Georgia Health System where he was pronounced deceased.
A weapon was recovered at the scene.
GBI will conduct an independent investigation.

According to GBI, one man is deceased and no officers are injured.
Agents continue to work to gather details, says GBI.
According to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, the Brunswick Police Department has requested their assistance with an officer involved shooting.
