NEPTUNE BEACH, Fla. — A good Samaritan saved a surfer from dying off our coast.
While out paddle surfing in Neptune Beach, Emily Parrish noticed a man in his 40s face down in the water.
A couple guys saw her struggling to pull him out, so they jumped in to help, too.
When she did, the man was unresponsive.
Parrish tried to revive him, and he eventually he came to.
He spent days in ICU, but is now on the mend.
His family is asking that we don't identify him, but said he should recover.
"I was paddling towards him and I was like alright guy -- take a breath. I know you're just messing around. Come up, come up, come up. He didn't come up and I put my hands on him. He didn't move and he bobbed. I jumped in. I never want to see that sight again," Parrish said.
In no way does Parrish want to be called a hero.
She said she just did what any decent human being would.
