Governor Ron DeSantis’ new book hits the shelves tomorrow and the Governor will be taking to the road to spread the word.
Governor Ron DeSantis is gearing up for a promotional tour for his new book, “The Courage to be Free: Florida’s Blueprint for America’s Revival” and it showed during a bill signing in Central Florida Monday.
”Today is the 27th? I have a book coming out on the 28th, of course, I should know what day it is,” said DeSantis.
The book officially hits shelves on Tuesday and DeSantis will embark on a tour across Florida and other states over the course of the next two weeks.
He already made an appearance on FOX News this weekend promoting the book.
”I think it comes across as more authentic cause it is me writing this,” said DeSantis appearing in an interview with Mark Levin.
The tour is widely seen as an unofficial start to an all-but-official bid for the Presidency.” I think this, you know, book tour might be a little bit of a misstep,” said UNF political science professor Sean Freeder.
Freeder said with the start of the 2023 legislative session potentially overlapping with the tour, the optics could present a line of attack.
”The number one thing that a Governor could have said against them is when you should have been running your state you were running around to other states raising money, going on tours, doing publicity junkets,” said Freeder.
And to Florida Democrats, like Jacksonville State Representative Angie Nixon, that’s exactly the way the book tour comes off.
”To take off the first week of legislative session when this is your job is just absolutely absurd and ridiculous,” said Nixon.
DeSantis’ book is being sold as low as $16 for electronic versions and up to $50 for a signed copy.
We asked the publisher and his campaign what kind of payment deal the Governor worked out for the book and who would be coving the cost of things like security on the tour, but we didn’t get an answer.
