Gunman behind deadly Crescent City triple shooting arrested in Missouri, Putnam deputies say

PUTNAM COUNTY, Fla. — A man believed to be the gunman in a triple shooting earlier this week in in Crescent City has been captured in Missouri following a nationwide search, according to the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office.

In a Facebook post Thursday, the sheriff’s office said Francisco Arroyo was arrested in Missouri Wednesday night as he attempted to make his way toward the Mexican border.

“He knew we were looking for him to cross the border so he went out of his way. What he didn’t know was we had a nationwide search,” said a Putnam spokesperson.

On July 13, around 3 a.m., police responded to the shooting near Gunby Court and Walnut Street where they discovered three men suffering from gunshot wounds.

Detectives said the victims were brothers and were embroiled in a domestic situation with the occupants of an apartment.

PCSO tell Action News Jax Mark Anthony Arbelo Jr., 24, of Crescent City died at the scene. Alexander Desmond Arbelo, 21, suffered a gunshot wound to the stomach, and his brother, Angel David Arbelo, 22, was shot in the leg.

As of Thursday, deputies say Alexander Arbelo remains in critical condition.

PCSO tells Action News Jax Arroyo was released from prison in Dec. 2020 after serving 10 years for armed robbery.
