Man shot, killed near Regal Beach Boulevard movie theater

DUVAL COUNTY, Fla. — A shooter is on the run Tuesday after a man was found shot dead in a mobile home off Beach Boulevard.

Crime scene vans pulled into the Portside at the Beaches to investigate on Tuesday morning.

"We are interviewing all the neighbors, going through that process right now," said Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Craig Waldrup.

Waldrup said officers were called out at about 11 a.m.

JSO found a man that was shot. Officers are investigating if there was any forced entry. Beyond that, officers had little details on the victim or on who pulled the trigger.

Action News found out this is the second shooting in the community in about six months. In January, Kyree Luis Perez, 20 was sentenced to 55 years in prison for shooting a man in December.

The website for the owner of this development, Bayshore Homes, paints a pretty picture of life here and elsewhere, but that's not the case according to Linda Bassett.

"This is scary," said Bassett, who has lived there for five years. “I live in the old part, but I used to live way back there and it's pretty rough in that section."

Action News reached out to Bayshore Homes, but is waiting to hear back. But for Gary Miller, said  he's not so sure he's safe.

"Does it make you think twice about being here?” Action News asked.

“Of course. Anytime there is a shooting anywhere you are going to say ‘Whoa, what's going on?’” Miller answered.

Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office identified the shooting victim as Daniel Sinkhorn, 35, on Friday.
