JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Henry F. Kite Elementary School on Lem Turner Road was on a code red lockdown Friday, according to Duval County Public Schools.
Students were held at the school after school hours. School officials say the lockdown was lifted around 5 p.m.
School police say there was a shooting two blocks away from school.
Students were taken to a shopping center across the street from the school to be picked up by their parents.
