How to help Jacksonville Landing mass shooting victims

In the wake of Sunday's mass shooting at the Jacksonville Landing, there are many people who want to help; but there also people trying to prey on your generosity.

GoFundMe has verified to Action News Jax that the following three fundraising pages are legitimate:

"As soon as I heard what had happened, I was like, we have to do something," said Samanthia McGlaughn, an avid gamer who's been to GLHF Game Bar, where the shooting happened.

McGlaughn started the #GamersGiveBackGLHF GoFundMe page to help the victims.

GoFundMe has verified that her fundraiser is legitimate, but McGlaughn said she’s been inundated with accusations.

“I’m getting lots of hate mail, as well and trolls, claiming that I’m going to take the money for this, or I’m trying to claim it for myself, or it’s a scam,” said McGlaughn.

In an exclusive interview with Action News Jax, Attorney General Pam Bondi said fake fundraisers have been a problem in every mass shooting she’s responded to, including Pulse, Parkland and Las Vegas.

“It’s a shame when you have such a tragedy like this that people try to prey on other people, and their goodness, and their kindness,” said Bondi.

Bondi said GoFundMe called her within hours of the shooting to let her know the company is actively looking for fakes.

“They are freezing the accounts until they can directly talk with the people, confirm that they’re real,” said Bondi.

Bondi said no funds will be dispersed until GoFundMe can verify where the money is going.
