Jacksonville dad found dead inside truck, deputies say

St. Johns County Sheriff's Office is investigating the death of a Jacksonville man.

Deputies say the 39-year-old man, Everett Thompson was found dead inside a pickup truck by Poa Boy Farms Road Sunday.

Investigators say he had been shot and they are investigating his death as a homicide.

Action News Jax spoke exclusively with Thompson’s mother on Monday evening.

She said Thompson was a family man who loved his three young children. She said they’d talked about their Christmas plans together on Saturday.

“He was my heart,” said Gadson. “I have four boys but everybody had their own spot. He was my heart.”

Investigators believe Thompson traveled to the general area where his body was found on Saturday, between 8 p.m. and Midnight.
