Jacksonville shelter offers free adoptions in April

Animal Care and Protective Services in Jacksonville is waiving adoption fees for the month of April.

Jacksonville residents can adopt a dog or cat for free at ACPS on Forest Street through the end of the month.

The shelter on 2020 Forest St. is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.

You can see a list of pets available for adoption on ACPS's website.

ACPS said all animals are microchipped, vaccinated and spayed or neutered.

Adopters must be 18 years of age or older with a photo ID.

Proof of current rabies and city license must be provided for animals currently in the household.

If the property is not owned by the adopter, approval is required by the property owner, ACPS said.
