JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office is starting the process of moving its administrative offices out of downtown Jacksonville this week, the agency announced.
Action News Jax reported in February that JSO planned to relocate its headquarters to the Florida Blue building in the Brooklyn neighborhood.
The agency said it will provide more details on public access soon.
In the meantime, the public counter at 501 E. Bay Street will remain open through Thursday, Sept. 10, before closing temporarily. It is scheduled to reopen at the new facility Monday, Sept. 28.
The District 1 Substation at 5258-13 Norwood Ave. will close Monday, Sept. 14, as it relocates to the new facility.
Substations for Districts 2 through 6 will remain open throughout the move, and JSO said there will be no lapse in public services at those locations. Substation hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The Prescription Drug Drop Box is unavailable during the transition. JSO said more information on a new location will be released soon.
The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said it remains fully operational throughout the move to its new headquarters in Brooklyn.
