Car strikes pedestrian, careens into Arnold's Lounge, spawning gas leak

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. — A car struck a pedestrian, and then careened into Arnold’s Lounge, a popular party spot on Ponce de Leon Boulevard in St. Augustine.

Chris Naff, a spokesman for St. Johns County Fire Rescue, said the person struck by the vehicle was transported to the hospital but is listed in stable condition with minor injuries.

The gas leak at the building has been secured as of 10:30 p.m., Naff said.

He did not have details of the extent of the damage to the building.

Originally inspired by a 1950s diner theme (referencing Arnold’s from Happy Days), it features one of the largest dance floors in the St. Augustine area. It gained attention when it was featured on reality TV show Bar Rescue.
