Jacksonville Sheriff's Office searches landfill for third consecutive day

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A bird's eye view of the Trail Ridge Landfill in Baldwin shows a vast area that investigators are searching. It's the third day in a row crews searched the area.

All police will say is that they're searching for clues in the disappearance of Brittany Foote, 22, but whatever led them there is still being kept under wraps.

Foote's live-in boyfriend Courtney Davis, 29, was arrested last week on a separate weapons charge.

According to Jacksonville Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Melissa Bujeda, Davis had to be taken to the hospital but won't reveal why because of patient privacy laws.

In the north side neighborhood where the couple lived, neighbors like Pauline Black say there were red flags.

"She hardly said anything because he wouldn't allow her to. You can tell when she comes out, she would look at me, he look at her and point. That meant get in the car and be quiet," said Black.

Police were at the house last week. Neighbors said they saw as crews take out bags of evidence from the home.

According to Black, at times, she was tempted to call the police.

"She never would ask me for help. I have three girls of my own. All she had to do was say, 'Help me,' and I would've called JSO and got her some help," said Black.

The couple moved to Jacksonville from Maryland last summer.

Foote's family and friends suspect Davis knows exactly where she is, but investigators won't confirm that he's connected.

Black wonders what more could've been done.

"I looked at her straight in the eye. I wanted her to say, 'Just help me,'" said Black.
