JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A fire destroyed a home on the Northside, but all seven people inside made it out safely.
The fire happened at a home on Bunker Hill Boulevard, just west of Interstate 95 and Edgewood Avenue.
"It looked scary," a neighbor told Action News. "Like a horror movie."
Family member Gloria Henry arrived home from work shortly after the blaze started.
"All I saw was smoke and next thing you know you see fire coming out my windows," said Henry.
She told Action News her children and grandchildren were inside the home when the fire started, but were able to escape unharmed.
"My grandkids they're OK. My kids, they OK," she said. "Thank God. That's all that matters."
Jacksonville Fire & Rescue told Action News one person woke up to the smell of smoke. The fire burned three rooms and the home is considered a total loss.
"All I know is that everybody is out," Henry said. "So we're taking it one day at a time."
The state fire marshal is investigating what started the fire.
The Red Cross is helping the family with accommodations and food.
