JSO: Former Jacksonville Jaguars player accused of hitting wife

Roy Miller was also arrested in November 2017.

A former Jacksonville Jaguars player was arrested after he pulled his wife by the hair and threw her phone in a toilet, according to a police report.

Former Jacksonville Jaguars defensive tackle Roy Miller and his wife were on a date at the Jacksonville Zoo when Miller left in an Uber.

Miller left first but got home after his wife. They began arguing about where he had been when Miller grabber her by her hair and began pushing her around, according to the police report.

He tore her shirt and threw his wife's phone in the toilet, the report says.

He tried to stop her from retrieving it but she escaped his grasp, got her phone and called police.

A witness who had been helping the couple with their kids told police she brought the kids into another room when the scuffle began.

She said at some point, the bedroom door slammed shut and she began hearing "thumping" coming from inside the room.

She heard the victim tell Miller not to hit her again then helped the victim get another shirt, she told police.

Miller was arrested shortly after midnight on Saturday. He faces a misdemeanor battery charge.

Miller currently plays for the Kansas City Chiefs. The Chiefs had a bye week last week.
