JSO: Pedestrian involved in fatal hit-and-run

JACKSONVILLE, Fla — The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office Traffic Homicide Unit is investigating a fatal hit-and-run that happened last night at Edgewood Ave N at the intersection with Broadway Ave before 10 p.m.

Reports say the victim, an adult female, was crossing Edgewood Ave N at the intersection and was struck by a vehicle driving south on Edgewood.

The vehicle that struck her immediately fled the scene and continued south on Edgewood Ave. The victim was announced deceased at the scene. Early indications are the suspect vehicle may be a red, 4-door sedan.

JSO is urging anyone with any information regarding this crash to reach out to the Traffic Homicide Unit or call CrimeStoppers to remain anonymous.

This marks the 104th traffic fatality in Duval County this year, and the 25th involving a pedestrian.
