JSO: Teenager shot in parking lot on Duval Station Rd.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office reported a shooting took place at approximately 2:45 p.m. on Tuesday afternoon in the parking lot at 700 Duval Station Rd.

The initial investigation by JSO confirmed a gray sedan was in the parking lot when an unknown person or persons shot at the vehicle. The sedan occupants drove to a nearby residence and called 911.

A 16-year-old boy was shot once and was transported to a local hospital by the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue with non-life-threatening injuries.

A community service officer was nearby, heard the shots and saw a person running from the scene. The description was put over the radio, and the suspect was detained by police upon entering a vehicle into the parking lot of First Coast High School.

At this time, several people who were in the parking lot at the school have been detained, but not everyone’s involvement is known.
