The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said their traffic homicide department is on the scene of a pedestrian traffic fatality on Monument Road near I-295.
The Sheriff's Office is asking drivers to avoid the area.
Lanes of Monument Road are shut down after an elderly man was killed while crossing the street.
According to JSO the main was not in a cross walk when he was hit.
The driver remained at the scene and JSO said there seems to be no signs of impairment.
According to JSO there was a child in the backseat of the car, but was not hurt in the crash.
JSO said that a 17-year-old witnessed the crash and ran out to the man to provide him CPR.
