JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Murder-for-hire and racketeering are some things listed in a federal indictment that arrested 13 ‘slime’ gang suspects in Jacksonville.
“This violent criminal organization is no longer, and they’re going to be brought to justice,” said Christopher Whitley, assistant special agent, DEA.
A federal indictment targeting 13 alleged members and associates of the violent “Slime Enterprise” gang. The charges, filed in the Middle District of Florida, include racketeering conspiracy, drug trafficking conspiracy, murder-for-hire, and witness retaliation.
According to court documents, the criminal enterprise operated under multiple names over the years, including Pearl World, BB4L (Block Burners for Life), K4T (Killers for Telly), and Slime World. Prosecutors name Brian Gregory Brightman as the gang’s leader.
“You might want to know what killers for Telly is one of the leaders, Brian Brightman. His brother was Telly Simmons who was killed in 2019, and he had set up K4T as an organization to retaliate against the killers. And finally, the name that they came to be used since 2019 Slime,” said United States Attorney Gregory W. Kehoe.
Federal authorities allege the gang operated primarily in Jacksonville’s Northside and Oceanway neighborhoods, using extreme violence to protect their drug territory. If convicted, several defendants face the possibility of life imprisonment or the death penalty.
The indictment details an operation running from 2019 until August 5, 2026, fueled by the distribution of marijuana, crack cocaine, and methamphetamine. The group allegedly maintained heavily armed “trap houses” to protect their narcotics trade and systematically eliminate competition.
“They did it through assaults, shootings, attempted murders, murders to protect and expand their territory, as I said, and to retaliate,” said Kehoe.
“This is a killer blow to this organization. All of the individuals other than one are in custody, and that individual is being sought as we speak,” Kehoe.
The unsealed document outlines a timeline of coordinated violence.
In August of 2021, Brightman, Raymond Cash, and Devin McFadden allegedly solicited the murder of a rival gang member.
In October of 2022, Brightman allegedly solicited another hit on a rival.
In December of 2022, Cash and Gary Harris allegedly robbed victims at gunpoint during a setup drug deal orchestrated by Brightman, weeks after Brightman smuggled 70 pounds of marijuana from California.
In January 2024, Brightman and gang members violently assaulted lower-level dealers to collect drug debts. On a separate occasion, Blake Baker allegedly held a woman at gunpoint and assaulted her partner over a gang debt.
In December 2024, Devonne Rivers and Terrance Williams allegedly shot at an individual to intimidate rival groups.
Federal prosecutors also tied the gang to witness intimidation. Andre Drinks is accused of orchestrating a physical assault on an individual believed to be cooperating with law enforcement.
“We’re going to continue to stand alongside our partners in order to protect the public, stop the trafficking of dangerous drugs within our communities, and hold those accountable who choose to do so,” Whitley.
