Late-season Subtropical Storm Josephine forms in the Atlantic Ocean

The National Hurricane Center says the storm is expected to move away from the U.S., with no local impacts for Northeast Florida

Subtropical Storm Josephine has formed in the Atlantic Ocean but is not expected to affect the U.S.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — National Hurricane Center forecasters said this afternoon that Subtropical Storm Josephine has formed in the Northwest Atlantic Ocean as the season’s 10th named storm.

The relatively quiet hurricane season was interrupted when Hurricane Isaias made landfall October 9 near Destin as a Category 2 storm.

Josephine is forecast to move away from the U.S., with no impacts for Northeast Florida, however.

It is expected to become a post-tropical cyclone with hurricane-force winds as it makes its way in a northeast direction across the North Atlantic.
