LIVE OAK, Fla. — LIVE OAK, Fla. -- Police have not yet confirmed if the body of a child found Friday is that of Leo Walker, but neighbors said if it is, he would have had to walk about a mile from his home to the swampy pond where the body was found.
The chilling discovery of a child's body in a nearby swamp has neighbors on edge tonight.
"It hurts to have your kids gone and you not know where they are," said neighbor Angela Collins.
Collins said she knows the pain first handfirsthand. Her daughter went missing for several days before she made it home safely. Hearing about 9-year-old Leo Walker's disappearance, brought back painful memories.
"When they came by looking for Leo, my mom told me that he used to come by and play in this field right here," said Collins.
Neighbors remember seeing Leo’s face, and watching him being pushed around town in a stroller.
"He don't move around by hisself. He mostly looks like he needs somebody to be with him," said neighbor Katrina Johnson.
Detectives were still on the scene Friday night, as the investigation continues.
