Local businesses are pumping out last minute gifts ahead of Valentine’s Day

JACKSONVILLE, Fla — Valentine’s Day is just four days away and local shops are pumping out last-minute gifts.

“The chocolate covered strawberries, chocolate covered popcorn, and chocolate covered roses…,” said Peterbrooke Chocolatier Atlantic Beach Owner Brooke Joyner.

Those are just some of the goodies Peterbrooke Chocolatier in Atlantic Beach are working overtime to prepare ahead of Valentine’s Day.

Joyner told Action News Jax that over this weekend they will work about 14-to-15 hours per day.

She said they expect to hand dip 3,500- to- 4,000 chocolate covered strawberries between today and Tuesday.

That’s their most popular item.

“We do get a lot of orders throughout the week leading up to valentine’s day,” said team member Bennett Wood.

According to Wallethub’s 2023 Valentine’s Day survey, Valentine’s Day the third-priciest holiday on the calendar for U.S. and about 39% of people expect their valentine to spend at least $50 on a gift.

Dinsmore florist, is also a locally owned business. They are working to ensure you can get the perfect arrangement of red roses for your valentine.

The owner said flower sales look the same as they did last year.

There is a large cooler outside of Dinsmore Florist and the owner told Action News Jax that by tomorrow the entire space will be filled with 600 arrangements, all valentine’s day orders.

He said the core of customers they’ve built over the last 60 years keep them going.

And they will continue making arrangements for Tuesday until they run out of flowers.
