Local Jax Beach restaurant gets a surprise phone call from Philadelphia Eagles

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A Philly special happened right here in Jacksonville.

The owner of Philly’s Finest Cheesesteak, Pizza, and Wings received a very unusual call today to celebrate the Jacksonville Jaguars beating the Dallas Cowboys.

That call came from the Philadelphia Eagles organization, and they had an order that needed to be placed.

Jeff Harris, owner of Philly’s Finest Cheesesteak, Pizza, and Wings was shocked after he received a call from the Eagles.

“Somehow I got a call from a guy, saying the guy was from the Eagles,” says Harris.

Harris, who is a die-hard Eagles fan and also from Philadelphia, says he couldn’t believe what he was hearing, but also, what the representative from the eagles was asking him to do.

“They like to take 35 cheesesteaks, and 25 fries to Doug Pederson,” says Harris.

Doug Pederson, who is now the Jaguars’ head coach and formerly the Eagles’ head coach, won the City of Brotherly Love a Super Bowl in 2018.

But after the Jaguars big overtime win Sunday against the Cowboys, the Eagles are pretty much a lock to win their division

Harris says the Eagles organization just wanted to thank Pederson

“To celebrate a win, win, win. The Eagles won, the Jaguars won, and the Cowboys lost,” says Harris.

Harris says he got right to work, putting those 35 cheesesteaks and 25 fries together.

We even tried one of their famous Philly cheesesteaks.

Harris says the Eagles sent someone to his business in Jax Beach to pick up the food and deliver it to TIAA Bank Field.

He adds he even left a note for Coach Pederson.

We spoke with Fred Sweet, who was born and raised in Philadelphia.

He’s also an Eagles fan and a frequent customer of Philly’s finest. When the owner initially told him the Eagles called, he was shocked.

He was also surprised that the Jaguars beat the Cowboys.

“That game surprised me, and I was born and raised in Philly,” says Sweet. “I’m here every week for the games, but that really surprised me, my face was just killing me.”
