Man charged in Norwood Flea Market killing

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — After nearly a year, police have Brandon Scriber's alleged killer off the street and at the Duval County Jail. For his best friend, and family -- it's a relief.

"Real, real sad day for me."

Scriber's friend remembers Nov. 22, 2013 well. He was at Norwood Flea Market when Scriber was gunned down. In fact, the bullets were meant for him. He didn't want to show his name or face, but describes the day.

"For me to just see somebody I had an incident with a long time ago come back and retaliate after five or six years -- that was crazy," he explained.

Vivian Kingston was arrested Monday for pulling the trigger. His colleague Nathan Oronde was charged with murder back in 2013. Witness testimony and video evidence helped police connect the dots.

"The suspect Nathan slapped the victim's friend in the face and started a fight. The victim intervened and was knocked to the ground and shot by suspect Kingston," Assistant Chief Chris Butler with JSO said.

For Scriber's friend, it will take more time to heal and release the guilt of losing his friend. The new arrest is a start.

"As time was going on, that showed me they (JSO) were doing their job, so I'm proud of them."

Scriber's godsister tells us they'll be in court for the first suspect, Nathan Oronde, in December.
