Man found dead in car with gunshot wounds at Jacksonville apartment complex

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office reported that at approximately 8 a.m. Saturday morning, officers were dispatched to the Kensley Apartment Complex at 6371 Collins Rd. in reference to a shooting.

STORY: Confirmed tornado went through Southeast Putnam County Saturday morning

Upon arrival, officers found a man between his 30s and 40s inside a vehicle with multiple gunshot wounds.

The Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department responded, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The investigation shows that there were calls for service and reference to gunfire in the area around 5:45 a.m. as well.

No suspect has yet been identified or detained.

Police are specifically looking for help from individuals who may have heard the gunshots or observed something through their windows.

Currently, there is an active crime scene at the apartment complex investigating.
