JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A Duval County judge last week sentenced a 49-year-old man to life in prison for the beating death in 2025 of a woman who had an injunction for protection against him.
Joseph Anderson was convicted in March of killing 58-year-old Alesa Leach, who was found dead from blunt force trauma in a home on West14th Street near Myrtle Avenue.
Police say officers were called to the home on November 17 of last year. When they got inside, they found Leach dead and lying naked on a mattress with apparent head injuries.
Officers say evidence showed Anderson was in the home with Leach when she died.
Anderson was first arrested in Connecticut for violating that injunction and later brought back to Jacksonville.
The investigation continued, and in March, Anderson was formally charged with Leach’s murder and other related crimes.
