Several hours after the shooting happened the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office continued working to find evidence.
Neighbor Diane Holmes says it wasn’t the Sunday morning that she was expecting to have. She woke up to a crime scene and later found out that it was one of her friends that had been shot.
Holmes says “I don't know how I'm feeling because I really did like the young man. You know he was a really nice guy.”
It was around 1:30 Sunday morning when neighbors called police saying they heard gunshots. Police arrived at the Whispering Oaks Apartments and found a young man who had been shot. He was rushed to the hospital but later died.
Holmes says “I know him real good. He comes on the back porch a lot and he talks to me.”
Holmes says that Saturday night there was a party near where the shooting happened. Late into Sunday morning investigators searched the same area for clues.
Neighbor Darrell Young says, “Whatever happened it was a disagreement and I didn't have anything to do with it. So I feel like it doesn't scare me from living out here.”
Holmes says “I just hate that something like that happened.”
