Man wanted in fatal drive-by shooting in Lake City in custody

A man wanted in connection with a fatal drive-by shooting in Lake City turned himself in, Lake City police announced Sunday evening.

Deron Marquis Matthews, 28, turned himself in to the Columbia County Sheriff's Office Sunday afternoon with no incident, police said.

Matthews is suspected of shooting a 25-year-old man Oct. 12.

Police said they had found the injured man when they were called out to a residence at 12275 NE Fronie St. regarding the shooting. The victim was taken to Shands Lake Shore Hospital, where he later died.
