SANDERSON, Fla. — A 29-year-old Dundalk, Maryland, man died early Saturday in a two-vehicle crash on westbound Interstate 10 in Baker County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The crash happened around 1 a.m. near mile marker 318 in Sanderson, troopers said.
The Maryland man was driving a sedan approaching a second sedan from behind when he lost control of his vehicle, according to FHP.
The front of his car struck the left side of the other sedan, causing his vehicle to rotate and overturn. He was ejected from the car and pronounced dead at the scene. He was not wearing a seatbelt, troopers said.
His vehicle came to rest on the north shoulder of the interstate.
The driver of the second sedan, a 26-year-old Jacksonville woman, was uninjured and brought her car to a controlled stop in the median, FHP said.
A 28-year-old Tampa man riding as a passenger in her vehicle was also uninjured. Both were wearing seatbelts, according to the report.
The westbound lanes of I-10 were completely blocked following the crash, with traffic diverted onto U.S. Highway 90, FHP said.
Troopers had not notified next of kin as of the release of the report.
The crash remains under investigation by FHP, with Tpr. A. Palmer serving as crash investigator and Cpl. J. Bowman as homicide investigator.
