Metro Diner has extensive plans for expansion

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Fried chicken and waffles are heading across state lines — Jacksonville's Metro Diner is chain expanding across Florida and into Georgia.

In 2014, a group of Tampa investors teamed up with Metro Diner's owners. By the end of the year, the group will completely control the brand, but the company's original owners will still play a role in the company's future.

The rapidly-expanding chain has eight locations. Several of the locations expanded their hours to include dinner.

Right now, there are plans to build locations in Tampa, Orlando, Palm Coast and Savannah.
