LIST: Duval County school closures after COVID-19 pandemic

Action News Jax will monitor the announcement of school closures in the northeast Florida and southeast Georgia area and will update this article with any new details.

WHAT WE KNOW:

  • Duval County Public Schools extended spring break through Sunday, March 22. DCPS is also cancelling athletic events and field trips. Any employees or students traveling out of the country or on cruises are asked to self-isolate for 14 days.
  • Jacksonville Country Day School has suspended campus activities and will move to remote learning until March 30 after spring break. “We are not aware of any COVID-19 cases associated with our school but have concluded that the best and most responsible path forward is to move our lessons to a remote space as we play our part in helping to mitigate the virus’ spread,” the school stated.
  • The Bolles Schools in Jacksonville has announced it will close schools at its four campuses beginning Saturday, March 14. “Our four campuses will be closed to all but boarding students, resident families and essential personnel. Students will remain at home and take scheduled courses virtually through our Distance Learning Program in Schoology (beginning Wednesday, March 25—to give faculty an additional day to prepare),” the school’s president said.   • Providence School of Jacksonville will be going to a virtual classroom beginning Wednesday, March 18 through Tuesday, March 31. Students have a scheduled time to pick-up their resources from school on Tuesday, March 17. All Providence performing arts activities, sports activities and any other extra-curricular activities are suspended during this time as well.
  • Grace Episcopal Day School in Orange Park is implementing its “Remote Learning Plan” starting Monday, March 16 through March 30. The school plans to have students return March 31.

  • Jackson High School
  • Ribault High School
  • Fletcher High School
  • Ed White High School
  • Douglas Anderson School of the Arts
  • Westside High School
  • Terry Parker High School

Atlantic Coast High School has canceled prom. The school posted on Facebook of the cancellation and that they currently do not have information on refunds or if the event will be rescheduled.
